In a recent development, Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) has strongly condemned the actions of investigative agencies involved in the confiscation of a literary work focused on Bihar’s Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar. The incident unfolded during a raid conducted at the residence of senior journalist Urmilesh, related to matters concerning NewsClick.

Ridiculing the move, Neeraj Kumar, the chief spokesperson of JD(U), criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for its actions, asserting that their actions reek of fear and desperation towards Nitish Kumar, who has succeeded in uniting the fragmented opposition. Neeraj Kumar issued a press statement on Sunday, emphasizing the confiscation of a book on Nitish Kumar during the raid at Urmilesh’s residence and characterizing it as a manifestation of desperation within the NDA camp.

Describing Nitish Kumar as the “architect” of opposition unity, the JD(U) leader opined that the BJP’s anxiety has grown ever since Nitish brought together various opposition parties under one banner.

In light of this prevailing apprehension, the JD(U) foresees a united opposition overthrowing what they deem an “arrogant and anti-people NDA government” in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Neeraj Kumar encouraged BJP members to delve into Nitish’s biography for insights from his life and leadership.

The JD(U) promptly responded to Urmilesh’s revelation that the police confiscated the book on Nitish from his residence. Urmilesh, a journalist known by a single name, stated that he had received the book for review and had not yet completed reading it when the raid took place. He expressed confusion regarding the connection between the book and the charges leveled against him. Furthermore, Urmilesh disclosed that the raiding police had whispered a veiled threat of taking him away as well before departing from his residence.
