In the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections of 2024, Jharkhand is set to witness a significant participation from its young electorate. With a total of 21,67,270 first-time voters, including 11,02,903 young women, the state is poised for a vibrant electoral exercise.
According to the electoral rolls published by the Election Commission, Jharkhand boasts a total of 2,53,86,152 voters exercising their franchise rights. Among them, the highest number of voters are concentrated in the Dhanbad parliamentary constituency, with over 22.45 lakh voters expected to cast their ballots.
However, Khunti parliamentary constituency has the lowest number of voters, with only 13.10 lakh registered voters. Additionally, Singhbhum and Lohardaga constituencies are anticipated to witness substantial voter turnout, with 14.28 lakh and 14.21 lakh voters respectively.
The gender distribution among voters reflects a slight majority of male voters, with 1,29,37,458, while 1,24,48,225 are female voters. There are also 469 third gender voters included in the electoral rolls.
Furthermore, the youth demographic, aged between 18 to 22 years, constitutes a significant portion of the electorate, with 21,67,270 young voters set to participate for the first time. Among them, 10,64,282 are young men and 11,02,903 are young women, indicating an encouraging trend towards youth engagement in the democratic process.
