Mumbai, Resident doctors at JJ Hospital have accused the head of the dermatology department, Dr. Mahendra Kura, of harassment, intimidation, and creating a hostile work environment. In a letter to the hospital’s dean, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) demanded Dr. Kura’s immediate removal, threatening mass leave starting December 18 if their concerns aren’t addressed within two days.
The letter alleges Dr. Kura’s disrespectful attitude towards patient care and undermining fellow doctors, impacting clinical acumen and patient care. Resident doctors also express concerns about alterations in prescribed medications, claiming it jeopardizes patient well-being.
Other faculty members support the residents, emphasizing the need for a conducive work environment. MARD has written to hospital authorities, seeking resolution for a safe working environment.
A two-member committee, chaired by Dr. Ajay Chandanwale, has been formed to investigate the allegations, with a report expected promptly.
