H. D. Kumaraswamy, the prominent leader of the JD(S), has strongly urged the Election Commission to take serious note of the startling claims made by the son of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. In a video that has gone viral, Yathindra Siddaramaiah allegedly states that voters in certain areas had been influenced through the distribution of cookers and iron boxes to secure a victory for his father in the Varuna constituency.
Kumaraswamy, a former Chief Minister himself, has not only demanded the dissolution of the Congress government but has also called upon the Union government to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the irregularities that purportedly transpired before the Assembly elections held in May.
He emphasized, “I have repeatedly said that this government has assumed power in Karnataka by bribing voters. The son of CM Siddaramaiah himself has revealed the truth.”
Kumaraswamy further alleged that such irregularities had occurred in all of the state’s 224 constituencies, asserting that voters were swayed by the distribution of guarantee cards door to door. He went on to describe this as “the largest electoral fraud in independent India.”
In light of these revelations, Kumaraswamy urged the Election Commission to treat the matter with utmost gravity and initiate a thorough investigation into Yathindra’s claims. He also called for the expulsion of all Congress MLAs and urged the central government to launch an inquiry into the matter.
The BJP, responding to the video, urged the Election Commission to take cognizance of the claims, emphasizing that if the remarks made by Yathindra Siddaramaiah were true, they constituted a serious offense.
This development has added a new layer of complexity to the political landscape in Karnataka, with implications that extend beyond the state’s borders.
