CPI (M) has finalized its candidates for three parliamentary seats in Bihar, with preparations underway for upcoming by-elections as well. The party, after the seat distribution within the Mahagathbandhan, secured three Lok Sabha seats in Bihar. The state secretary of CPI (M) revealed the names of their candidates through a press conference. Candidates for Ara, Karakat, and Nalanda constituencies have been announced. Additionally, an announcement regarding the candidate from Kodarma, Jharkhand, has also been made.
The candidates selected by CPI (M) are as follows: Sudama Prasad for Ara, Rajaram Singh for Karakat, and Sandeep Saurabh for Nalanda. Vinod Singh has been nominated as the candidate from Kodarma, Jharkhand. Moreover, the party will also field Shiv Prakash Ranjan as its candidate for an assembly seat in the upcoming by-election.
Seat distribution within the Mahagathbandhan had faced delays and uncertainties, with 40 parliamentary seats at stake in Bihar. However, after consensus was reached among the constituent parties, the seat distribution was announced via a joint press conference on Friday. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) plays a significant role within the Mahagathbandhan, contesting on 26 seats, while the Congress has been allocated 9 seats. The Left parties have been allotted 5 seats, with CPI (M) securing three of them. Furthermore, CPI (M) will also field its candidate in the upcoming by-election.
The competition will be intense on the three seats where CPI (M) candidates will contest against candidates from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). In Ara , CPI (M)’s candidate will directly compete with RK Singh from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Meanwhile, in Karakat, the battle will be between CPI (M)’s candidate and Upendra Kushwaha. In Nalanda, CPI (M)’s candidate will face competition from Janata Dal (United) incumbent, Kaushalendra Kumar. With the announcement of seat distribution, the Mahagathbandhan has initiated its campaign preparations for the upcoming elections.
