Lok Sabha Election 2024: voting from home made possible, just fill this form

The Election Commission today announced the dates for the Lok Sabha Election 2024. This time, 97 crore voters will exercise their voting rights. Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that our team is fully prepared for the elections. He stated that there will be 10.5 lakh polling stations and 55 lakh EVMs will be used in the elections. For this, 1.5 crore polling officers and security personnel will be deployed. Additionally, there are voters in the list whose age is above 85 years, for whom the Election Commission has made special arrangements.

Postal Ballot Facility Provided

In Lok Sabha Election 2024, voters aged above 85 years are being provided with the facility of postal ballot for voting. Under the postal ballot, voters can apply to cast their vote from home using Form 12D. Form 12D will be delivered to voters within five days of the announcement. Apart from this, voters can also download Form 12D online from the Election Commission’s website. After downloading, the filled form can be submitted to the Returning Officer’s office of the respective election area.

Postal Ballot Facility Extended to Divyang Individuals

In Lok Sabha Election 2024, besides elderly voters aged above 85 years, more than 40% of Divyang (disabled) voters are also being provided with the facility to vote from home. The condition is that their disability should be above 40%. However, Divyang voters also need to fill Form 12D to avail of this facility. They must have a disability certificate to apply. Additionally, individuals deployed in essential services can also fill Form 12D to avail of the postal ballot facility.
