In an unexpected turn of events, UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak and his spouse, Akshata Murty, chose a discreet rendezvous in the heart of Delhi, replacing a scheduled meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The rendezvous took place on Friday evening, following their arrival in India for the G20 summit, which commenced on the same day.

Initially, Sunak had arranged discussions with PM Modi at his official residence in central Delhi on Friday afternoon. However, this anticipated meeting was abruptly shelved prior to the couple’s arrival in India. Instead, PM Modi hosted a private dinner for United States President Joe Biden at his residence that Friday evening.

Adding to the day’s unexpected cancellations, another engagement on the couple’s itinerary was thwarted due to rigorous security measures imposed for the G20 summit, rendering travel in the national capital exceedingly challenging. Numerous British media outlets reported the cancellation of a gathering of Indian business luminaries, which was to convene with Sunak. This event, organized by the British High Commission, was regrettably canceled due to the logistical constraints of reaching the venue.

Undeterred by these diplomatic intricacies, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife, Akshata Murty, embraced a private dining experience in the refined environs of Lutyens’ Delhi. Residing at the prestigious Shangri-La Hotel, the couple embarked on a leisurely walk to a nearby dining establishment on the Friday evening.

The discerning duo strolled towards The Imperial Hotel, as captured in a photograph where they appeared arm in arm. Sunak, dressed in a pristine white shirt sans blazer, exuded a relaxed elegance. Meanwhile, Murty was adorned in a white T-shirt, harmonized with white and pink striped trousers.

Earlier in the day, the couple engaged in an enlightening session with students at the British Council, fostering educational and cultural exchanges.

Akshata Murty, the accomplished daughter of Indian billionaire Infosys founder Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty, expressed her delight in returning to New Delhi for the G20 summit through an Instagram post. She remarked, “I’m immensely proud to be back in India, representing the UK delegation and celebrating the enduring connection between our two nations.”

In a world filled with dynamic diplomacy, the quiet dinner date of Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murty emerges as a noteworthy chapter, highlighting their poise amidst unforeseen diplomatic shifts.
