Patna,  In a potential shake-up within the Janata Dal (United), Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is reportedly considering the removal of Lalan Singh as the party’s chief. Sources suggest that this decision may transpire during the national executive meeting on December 29 in Delhi.

Speculations abound that Nitish Kumar might personally assume the position of party chief, a move suggested by close advisors to mitigate internal dissent that could arise with a new leader replacing Lalan Singh.

Sources indicate that Nitish Kumar is dissatisfied with Lalan Singh’s recent conduct, particularly his growing association with RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav and Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav. Reports further suggest Lalan Singh’s interest in contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on an RJD ticket, raising concerns within the party.

Nitish Kumar’s purported dissatisfaction extends to Lalan Singh’s alleged failure to effectively coordinate with INDIA bloc partners, hindering national ambitions. If the leadership change occurs, Lalan Singh will join the ranks of other senior party figures replaced despite their proximity to Nitish Kumar.

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar, at a recent INDIA bloc meeting, emphasized the urgency of finalizing seat-sharing arrangements by January, underscoring the need for a cohesive strategy against the current regime.

Dismissing reports of Kumar’s displeasure over the coalition’s reluctance to name him the convener of INDIA, JD(U) national general secretary Sanjay Kumar Jha asserted that Kumar’s focus remains on developing a counter-narrative and preparing for the upcoming campaign.

As the political landscape evolves, stay tuned for updates on this potential leadership transition within the Janata Dal (United).
