Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s recent comments regarding his Deputy Chief Minister, Tejashwi Yadav, have reignited discussions about a potential leadership transition. During a joint media appearance with Tejashwi, Nitish Kumar expressed his strong support, raising questions about whether he might be considering passing on the leadership mantle to Tejashwi, the son of Lalu Prasad Yadav.

It’s important to note that Nitish Kumar had previously declared Tejashwi as his successor on multiple occasions, even going so far as to state that Tejashwi would lead the ruling Grand Alliance in Bihar during the 2025 assembly polls.

Furthermore, Nitish Kumar’s mention of “personal friendship” with BJP leaders had generated speculation about potential realignments in the political landscape, particularly as he has historically been in a coalition with the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress.

However, during the joint media appearance with Tejashwi, Nitish Kumar clarified that they are working together for Bihar’s progress and that his primary focus is on the betterment of the state.

In response to questions about the upcoming assembly elections in five states and the performance of the INDIA bloc, Nitish emphasized the supremacy of the people’s will and his commitment to working for Bihar’s welfare, as well as supporting initiatives beneficial to the entire country.
