Patna. On the second day of the Bihar Legislative Assembly’s budget session, the Education Minister made a significant announcement. The Education Minister, Vijay Choudhary, stated that another central university will soon be established in Bihar. Minister Choudhary mentioned that the land acquisition process for the new central university in Bihar is underway. Currently, there are two central universities in Bihar, located in Motihari and Gaya, namely Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University and Nalanda University, both operating under the central government. Another central university will be inaugurated in Bihar. Additionally, he declared that computer education will commence in all state secondary and higher secondary schools in the upcoming financial year 2024-25, along with the establishment of computer labs.
In the assembly, the issue of coaching institutes was raised. During the question hour, Education Minister Vijay Choudhary stated that in areas where there is no degree college yet, the government will open colleges if land is available. The government has already opened degree colleges in 9 such areas. Amidst this, BJP legislator Sanjay Sarawgi raised concerns about coaching institutes, highlighting issues related to the education system’s lack of quality in middle and high schools.
Minister Vijay Choudhary responded to the BJP legislator’s question, stating that efforts are underway to recruit qualified teachers for quality education. In places where there is a shortage of school buildings, steps will be taken to address the issue promptly. Following this, BJP legislator Tarakishor Prasad raised the matter of the shortage of degree colleges in the assembly, emphasizing the need for acquiring land for financially unsupported colleges. Minister Choudhary informed the assembly that out of 18 districts, degree colleges have already been opened in 9, and more will be established if legislators provide available land. However, challenges in land acquisition are hindering the opening of colleges.
