In a notable endorsement at the 14th VTB Investment Forum Russia Calling, Russian President Vladimir Putin lauded Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing his resolute stance and the inability to be coerced into decisions contrary to India’s national interests.

Putin expressed confidence in Modi’s unwavering commitment to defending India’s interests, stating, “I cannot imagine that Modi could be intimidated, or forced to take any actions, steps and decisions that are contrary to the national interests of India and the Indian people.”

Highlighting the growing bilateral ties between Russia and India, Putin underscored that the relations are progressing in all directions. He credited Prime Minister Modi’s policy as the primary guarantor of the robust ties between the two nations.

Addressing the potential for increased trade, Putin acknowledged the substantial trade turnover between Russia and India, emphasizing the need for further growth. He commented on India’s economic prowess, ranking third globally by purchasing power parity and economic volume, and advocated for an enhanced trade turnover with India.

Putin also mentioned discussions with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the North-South Corridor, indicating India’s interest in such routes. Additionally, he emphasized the significance of developing the Northern Sea Route for logistics and urged the use of more national currencies in mutual settlements.

The Russian President concluded by calling for increased attention to investments and investment flows, marking the forum with an optimistic outlook on the future of Russo-Indian relations.
