Varanasi: In a momentous occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the 402 km-long stretch of the new Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) on Monday. The corridor, constructed at a cost of ₹10,903 crores, spans crucial districts in Uttar Pradesh, positioning itself as a pivotal link on the Delhi-Howrah rail route.

As part of his two-day visit to Varanasi, PM Modi also inaugurated Kashi Tamil Sangamam 2.0 at Namo Ghat and flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express, a train connecting Kanyakumari to Varanasi. The express train launch utilized a real-time Artificial Intelligence-based translation tool during PM Modi’s speech at the Kashi Tamil Sangamam, showcasing technological integration in public events.

The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor is expected to play a transformative role in strengthening the logistics sector and fostering economic growth in the region. This move aligns with the government’s commitment to bolstering transportation infrastructure across the country.

In addition to the corridor inauguration, PM Modi unveiled several other developmental projects, emphasizing the government’s focus on enhancing connectivity and promoting economic activities in Varanasi and beyond.
