In a fresh attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has attributed the recent security breach in Parliament to unemployment and inflation. Gandhi stated, “Security breach happened in Lok Sabha. The reason behind this is unemployment and inflation due to PM Modi’s policies.”

Later, Gandhi emphasized the pressing issue of unemployment, saying, “Where are the jobs? The youth are desperate – we have to focus on this issue, give jobs to the youth. There has definitely been a security lapse, but the reason behind it is the country’s biggest issue – unemployment!”

Responding to Gandhi’s comments, Amit Malviya, BJP IT cell head, countered, “Rahul Gandhi never disappoints; always talks trash. For the record, unemployment in India is at 3.2%, the lowest in six years.” Malviya urged Gandhi and I.N.D.I Alliance leaders to clarify the alleged linkages between those involved in the security breach and Congress, TMC, and CPI(M).

Senior Congress leader KC Venugopal also addressed the incident, stating that Delhi Police, reporting to Union home minister Amit Shah, labeled it a terror attack. Venugopal defended the Opposition, asserting they did not politicize the incident but expressed concerns about the security lapse.

Meanwhile, DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi demanded a statement from the Centre, highlighting the “serious” security lapse and emphasizing the need for enhanced security measures in the new Parliament building.

In response to the security breach, 13 Congress members and Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Derek O’Brien were suspended for the remainder of the ongoing Winter Session.
