In a significant development, the security detail of the esteemed External Affairs Minister, Mr. S. Jaishankar, has undergone an elevation from the ‘Y’ category to the more fortified ‘Z’ category, as confirmed by official sources on Thursday.

The Union home ministry has issued a directive for the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to assume responsibility for safeguarding the minister, a task previously handled by the Delhi Police.

The distinguished Mr. Jaishankar, at the age of 68, had been under the vigilant protection of an armed Delhi Police contingent, classified under the ‘Y’ category.

This enhancement entails the deployment of approximately 14-15 armed commandos who will provide round-the-clock security in shifts, accompanying the minister during his national travels, ensuring his utmost safety.

The CRPF’s prestigious VIP security umbrella currently extends its protection to 176 individuals, which includes eminent figures like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, as well as Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

This development underscores the nation’s commitment to bolstering the security of its prominent leaders and statesmen.
