Turkey Tourism: The travel enthusiasm of Indians has significantly boosted Turkey’s tourism sector. According to the Turkish Tourism Department, 126,000 Indian tourists visited Turkey in the first five months of this year, marking a 34% increase compared to the previous year.

As the holiday season progresses, many people have already traveled, while others are planning their trips. Every year, millions of Indians travel abroad, with popular destinations including Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, and the Maldives. Turkey has also become a favored destination for Indian tourists. Despite diplomatic tensions on various issues, Turkey remains a popular choice for Indian travelers.

This year has seen a record increase in the number of Indian tourists visiting Turkey, bringing much delight to the Turkish Tourism Department.

Tourism plays a crucial role in any country’s economy, as it brings foreign currency into the country and boosts the foreign exchange reserves. The Turkish Tourism Department reported a record increase in the number of Indian tourists in 2024. From January to May, 126,000 Indian tourists visited Turkey, a 34% increase compared to 2023.

In 2023, Turkey hosted a total of 274,000 Indian tourists. With 126,000 Indian tourists visiting in just the first five months of 2024, this number is expected to rise further in the coming months.

Indian tourists are particularly drawn to several Turkish cities. Istanbul is renowned for its historic buildings and vibrant culture, attracting many Indian visitors. Cappadocia, famous for its stunning landscapes and hot air balloon rides, is also becoming popular among Indians.

Coastal regions like Antalya and Bodrum, known for their beautiful beaches and luxury resorts, are increasingly favored for weddings, honeymoons, and other events. The growing interest of Indian tourists in Turkey is directly benefiting the Turkish economy. Recently, the Turkish Tourism Board organized an ‘India Road Show’ in collaboration with Indian travel agents to further promote tourism.
