In a presentation at the third National Conference of Chief Secretaries in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh revealed that its capital expenditure on infrastructure development stands at an impressive 6.18% of its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). This figure surpasses the national average, with officials emphasizing the state’s commitment to creating essential infrastructure in areas such as power, drinking water, education, and health.

Additional Chief Secretary of Finance, Deepak Kumar, highlighted that while other states allocate around 2.98% of their GSDP to capital expenditure, Uttar Pradesh’s spending is notably higher. The state’s fiscal responsibility and budget management adherence were also underscored, positioning Uttar Pradesh as a revenue-surplus state.

Three key presentations were made by Uttar Pradesh during the conference, covering financial matters, health, and school education. The state’s proactive reforms in these sectors were showcased to promote ease of living.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired the two-day conference, which took place on December 28 and 29, marking the third such gathering of chief secretaries. This commitment to infrastructure development positions Uttar Pradesh as a leader in shaping a robust economic landscape.
