Lucknow (Language): The Uttar Pradesh government has set a target of 5.1 percent growth rate for the agricultural sector in the annual budget for the financial year 2024-25. The budget allocates a total of 460 crores for three new schemes in the agricultural sector. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna announced these plans in the Assembly on Monday to enhance agricultural progress.

The first plan includes a provision of 200 crores for the State Agricultural Development Scheme. Additionally, 200 crores have been allocated for the World Bank-supported UP AgriEase Scheme. The third scheme is related to establishing automated weather centers and rain gauge devices in development blocks and rural panchayats, with an allocation of 60 crores. The Finance Minister stated that the Chief Minister Crop Security Scheme, with a provision of 50 crores, is also set to commence. Furthermore, a proposed expenditure of 2,400 crores aims to provide affordable electricity to private tube wells for farmers, exceeding the budget allocated in the current fiscal year by 25 percent. He mentioned a proposed amount of 449.45 crores for the implementation of the PM Kusum Scheme, which is twice the amount allocated in the current financial year 2023-24.
