In a significant political development, Bihar Legislative Council Chairman Devesh Chandra Thakur has declared his unwavering support for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. This statement follows reported promises of a Lok Sabha ticket for Thakur in the Sitamarhi seat. As political circles speculate on Nitish Kumar’s future alliances, Thakur’s commitment adds a new dimension to Bihar’s political landscape.

Thakur, responding to rumors of being assured a Lok Sabha ticket, stated, “I am his (Nitish’s) soldier and will follow him wherever he goes. Jahan jayenge, unke saath taiyar hain. Wo jahan le chalenge, ham jayenge…yah faisla unka hoga aur ham unke saath hain.” (Wherever he goes, I am ready to go with him. Where he leads, we will follow… this decision is his, and we are with him.)

This declaration gains significance amid reports of Nitish Kumar’s purported discontent with the Congress leadership, although the CM himself has denied such claims.

Thakur, representing the Grand Alliance, becomes the first individual to be promised a specific Lok Sabha seat in Bihar. The Grand Alliance, comprising RJD, JD(U), Congress, and the Left, is yet to finalize seat-sharing agreements.

The likelihood of Thakur securing a JD(U) ticket for the Sitamarhi seat was discussed at a recent JD(U) executive committee meeting, as revealed by JD(U) national general secretary Rajib Ranjan.

Sitting MP Sunil Kumar Pintu, currently holding the Sitamarhi seat, emphasized the unique significance of the seat, claiming decisions regarding ticket distribution are influenced by Goddess Sita. Pintu stated, “Last time as well, the JD(U) had announced the candidature of Dr. Varun from this seat, but ultimately, the ticket was given to me. This happened only because Goddess Sita personally intervened.”

Addressing queries about RJD chief Lalu Prasad’s consent on ticket allotment, Thakur affirmed Nitish Kumar as his leader and emphasized the JD(U)’s claim over the Sitamarhi seat in the Lok Sabha.

All eyes are on the upcoming developments as Thakur’s commitment aligns with the evolving political dynamics in Bihar.
