In response to the severe cold weather gripping the national capital, schools in Delhi catering to students from nursery to Class 5 will remain closed for the next five days. The decision, announced by Education Minister Atishi, comes after a temporary reversal of a previous order that had extended the winter vacation until January 10. The Delhi government acknowledged an error in the initial order and indicated that further directives would be issued soon.

Dense Fog Delays Delhi-Bound Trains

As dense fog envelopes parts of Delhi, causing disruptions in transportation, at least 22 Delhi-bound trains are experiencing delays ranging from one to six hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts the continuation of cold conditions in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, and Rajasthan, with expectations of shallow to moderate fog. In response to the ongoing cold spell, Delhi Minister Atishi has also declared a five-day closure of schools for students up to Class 5.
