BATHINDA: Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Shekhawat, during the Centre’s Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Bathinda, highlighted the government’s progressive step towards empowering women in agriculture. The introduction of drone technology in the agriculture sector is set to revolutionize farming practices and reduce costs.
Addressing public gatherings in Jajjal and Sandoha villages, Shekhawat emphasized the use of drones for spraying farm chemicals and seed sowing, anticipating a reduction in soil chemical load. The move is expected to contribute to another green revolution in Punjab.
As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative, women self-help groups (SHGs) will benefit from an 85% subsidy on farm drones. Shekhawat underscored that women will be trained to use this technology, making a substantial contribution to the agriculture sector.
The Union Minister also highlighted the significance of promoting nano fertilizers, emphasizing their role in protecting groundwater from contamination and improving the health of farmers working in the fields.
Shekhawat urged public support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing various welfare projects initiated by the Centre. The announcement reflects the government’s commitment to leveraging technology for sustainable and inclusive agricultural practices.
