Legendary South African pace bowler Allan Donald suggests that Indian pacers need to exhibit patience and creativity in Cape Town, where spinners are expected to have minimal impact. Donald analyzed India’s performance in the opening Test against South Africa, emphasizing the need for the bowlers to adapt to the batting-friendly conditions.

India’s loss in the first Test was attributed to a lack of patience and an inclination towards shorter deliveries. Donald emphasized the importance of creativity on flatter pitches, especially in Cape Town, where partnerships are expected to stretch.

According to Donald, the new ball will play a crucial role, and Indian bowlers should focus on pitching it fuller and utilizing swing during the initial overs. He downplayed the role of spinners, stating that although there might be some assistance later in the game, it’s unlikely to be a deciding factor.

In the context of batting in South Africa, Donald shared insights on the success of legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar, who scored four Test centuries in five tours to the country. Donald advised visiting batters to leave the ball well, as it could force bowlers to search for wickets, creating scoring opportunities.

As India aims to restore parity in the series, the upcoming Test in Cape Town is expected to be a challenging encounter, demanding honest efforts from both bowling attacks.
