Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assertion of India’s G20 presidency as a people-driven movement signifies a pivotal moment in global diplomacy. In his illuminating article, Prime Minister Modi underscores how India’s leadership within the G20 has relentlessly striven to dismantle barriers, bridge divides, and sow the seeds of collaboration, ultimately nurturing a world where unity prevails over discord, and shared destiny eclipses isolation.

“As the G20 president, we had pledged to make the global table larger, ensuring that every voice is heard and every country contributes. I am positive that we have matched our pledge with actions and outcomes,” writes PM Modi in a compelling narrative that graced several esteemed newspapers today.

One notable achievement highlighted by the Prime Minister is the Voice of Global South Summit, a landmark initiative under India’s presidency, featuring participation from an impressive 125 countries. This initiative not only witnessed the largest-ever involvement from African nations but also championed the inclusion of the African Union as a permanent member of the G20.

In addressing the interconnected challenges of our world, PM Modi expresses deep concern over the off-track progress of sustainable development goals (SDGs). To rectify this, he emphasizes the pivotal role of the G20 2023 action plan in spearheading the future direction of the G20 towards implementing these goals.

India’s age-old tradition of harmonious coexistence with nature finds contemporary resonance in the realm of climate action. PM Modi underscores India’s contribution to climate action, stressing that ambitions must be matched by concrete actions, particularly in the realms of climate finance and technology transfer.

The Prime Minister advocates for a shift from a purely restrictive attitude towards climate action to a more constructive approach, emphasizing the role of initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Global Biofuels Alliance in facilitating energy transitions and circular economies.

In a masterful stroke, PM Modi draws parallels between global climate action and individual choices for personal wellness, highlighting the “Lifestyles for Sustainable Environment (LiFE)” initiative as a global nudge towards more sustainable living.

Furthermore, he champions millets, or “Shree Anna,” as a solution to ensure food and nutritional security while promoting climate-smart agriculture, especially in the International Year of Millets.

Recognizing the transformative power of technology, PM Modi asserts the importance of inclusive technological advancement, leveraging India’s example of narrowing inequalities through technology.

The Prime Minister proudly asserts India’s status as the fastest-growing large economy, attributing this success to scalable and sustainable solutions that empower marginalized communities. He celebrates the role of Indian women in diverse sectors and affirms India’s commitment to bridging gender digital divides and promoting women’s leadership.

Concluding on a note of inclusivity and diversity, PM Modi positions India’s G20 presidency as a people-driven movement that has opened its doors to the world. He underscores the scale of India’s accomplishment, with over 200 meetings held in 60 Indian cities, hosting nearly 100,000 delegates from 125 countries, making it a truly remarkable and unparalleled diplomatic endeavor.

In his poignant words, “It is one thing to hear about India’s demography, democracy, diversity, and development from someone else. It is totally different to experience them first-hand. I am sure our G20 delegates would vouch for this.”
