Lucknow Super Giants have been dealt a significant blow in the midst of the IPL 2024 season as their lethal fast bowler Shivam Mavi has been sidelined due to injury. Mavi’s absence from the tournament comes as a big blow to Lucknow. The franchise had acquired Mavi for INR 6.4 crores during the mini-auction for IPL 2024 held in Dubai last year. Unfortunately, Mavi will not be able to participate in this edition of the tournament due to his injury.
The team shared a video on their social media platforms where Shivam Mavi can be seen discussing his injury, expressing his disappointment, and vowing to come back stronger. Mavi, who made his IPL debut in 2018 for Kolkata Knight Riders, had joined Lucknow Super Giants’ squad ahead of this season after being purchased for a hefty sum. However, his hopes of making an impact this season have been dashed due to this setback.
In his IPL career spanning across various franchises, Mavi has played 32 matches and claimed 30 wickets. He has also represented India in T20 internationals, picking up 7 wickets in 6 matches. Lucknow Super Giants will now have to rely on their remaining squad members to fill the void left by Mavi’s absence.
The Lucknow Super Giants team for IPL 2024 includes KL Rahul (Captain), Quinton de Kock, Nicholas Pooran, Ayush Badoni, Kyle Mayers, Marcus Stoinis, Deepak Hooda, Devdutt Padikkal, Ravi Bishnoi, Navin ul Haq, Krunal Pandya, Yudhvir Singh, Prerak Mankad, Yash Thakur, Amit Mishra, Shamor Joseph (Replacement for Mark Wood), Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, K. Gautam, Arshin Kulkarni, M. Siddharth, Ashton Turner, Matt Henry (Replacement for David Willey), Mohammad Arshad Khan.
