As the higher reaches of Kashmir experienced fresh snowfall, the plains received gentle rains on Saturday, according to officials. Srinagar recorded a low of minus 1.3 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam and Gulmarg registered minimum temperatures of minus 5.1 and minus 2.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
A weak western disturbance influenced the region, leading to light to moderate snowfall in some higher areas, including Gulmarg, which recorded around six inches of fresh snow. The western disturbance is expected to affect Jammu and Kashmir until Sunday morning, bringing light rain or snow to certain places, especially in higher elevations.
The meteorological department predicts an improvement in minimum temperatures due to the feeble western disturbance until Sunday, followed by a subsequent drop in night temperatures.
