Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on Saturday (February 10th), gifted nearly every year’s ordeal of drought-prone Palamu district with the inauguration of the Palamu Pipeline Irrigation Scheme, a ₹456.6 crore irrigation project. After laying the foundation stone, Soren declared the vision to make Jharkhand an exemplary state, bridging the gap between urban and rural areas. By 2027, every household in Jharkhand is set to have a permanent residence, aiming to eradicate the housing crisis. Soren also discussed the achievements and foresight of former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who led the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

Palamu fields to receive water for 12 months
The Chief Minister affirmed that within one and a half to two years, the Palamu Pipeline Irrigation Scheme would be completed, ensuring water availability for Palamu’s fields throughout the year. This initiative is anticipated to resolve the longstanding drought issues in Palamu, promising pipeline water supply to every field in the region.

Eliminating distance between cities and villages
Replacing Hemant Soren, Chief Minister Champai Soren emphasized the dream envisioned by the former leader to eliminate the distance between villages and cities. He announced the “Chief Minister Gram Gadi Yojana” to facilitate free bus travel from villages to cities, aiming to ease commuting challenges for residents.

No bus fare for anyone
Champai Soren revealed plans for the “Chief Minister Gram Gadi Yojana,” assuring that once implemented, villagers, regardless of age or economic status, can travel by bus to cities free of charge. This initiative aims to ensure accessibility for pensioners, students, and underprivileged families.

Every resident to have a permanent house in Jharkhand
The Chief Minister announced a bold target for Jharkhand, promising that by 2027, every family in the state will have a permanent residence. Despite the central government’s refusal to provide Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana benefits, Hemant Soren’s administration decided to address housing challenges through the “Abua Awas Yojana,” planning to offer three-room houses to 20 lakh families in Jharkhand.

Soren questions BJP’s performance
Champai Soren criticized the BJP government’s lack of progress during its extended rule in Jharkhand, noting that although the party held power for the longest period, it failed to contribute significantly to the state’s development. He emphasized that the BJP could not tolerate the positive strides made under Hemant Soren’s leadership, leading to the unjust imprisonment of the youthful Chief Minister.
