LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) apprehended a 24-year-old man from Jhansi, identified as Zibran Makrani, for posting hateful content on social media related to the Ram temple in Ayodhya. The arrest was made on Wednesday, with accusations of the posts promoting revenge for the demolition of the Babri mosque and fostering enmity between religious groups.

Director-General of Law and Order, Prashant Kumar, disclosed that the ATS detected Makrani’s posts during intensified cyber patrolling in preparation for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the Ayodhya temple on January 22. The accused allegedly shared objectionable content, urging others to seek retribution for the historical incident.

An FIR has been registered against Zibran Makrani under Indian Penal Code Sections 153-a for promoting enmity between religious groups and 505(2) for making statements promoting hatred and enmity between classes. The arrest emphasizes the authorities’ vigilant monitoring of social media posts to maintain public order and harmony.
