In a tense escalation, Ukraine’s air defense systems engaged in repelling Russia’s missile attack on Kyiv. The military administration reported the launch of 35 attack drones by Russia on Ukraine earlier, prompting air alerts and cautioning citizens about the imminent threat of missile strikes.
“Missile danger in areas where the air alert is on! Threat of launching cruise missiles from Tu-95MS aircraft. A total of 16 Tu-95MS strategic bombers are in the air,” warned the Ukrainian air force via Telegram.
Ukraine successfully intercepted and destroyed all 35 attack drones launched by Russia. However, the destruction of the drones heightened the alert for a new threat of Russian missile strikes, especially with 16 Tu-95MS strategic bombers reportedly in the region, ready to launch cruise missiles.
The Tu-95MS, also known as the “Bear,” is a long-range, turboprop-powered bomber and missile platform that has been part of the Russian Air Force since the Cold War era. The situation remains critical as tensions persist in the region.
