In the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, it is anticipated that 40% of the candidates in Bihar will be new faces, with all parties, including the NDA and Mahagathbandhan, focusing on providing opportunities to younger candidates. While some incumbent faces may still feature in the BJP’s candidate list, the party is planning to field candidates aged between forty-five to fifty-five years old. Similar strategies are being adopted by other parties like JDU, with a focus on youth candidates.
Both the NDA and Mahagathbandhan are placing emphasis on marginalized communities. The BJP is preparing to prioritize candidates from marginalized communities who haven’t been represented in parliamentary elections before. Similarly, JDU is also searching for such leaders. In contrast, the Mahagathbandhan, comprising parties like RJD, Congress, and Left parties, is likely to field candidates from these communities prominently.
Owaisi’s party is expected to play a significant role in the Seemanchal region, contesting on a large scale. The party is actively recruiting educated youth candidates, especially from urban areas.
In the NDA, major parties include BJP, JDU, HAM, RLSP led by Upendra Kushwaha, LJP led by Chirag Paswan, and HAM led by former CM Jitan Ram Manjhi. Although Pappu Yadav is still part of the NDA, they haven’t secured any seats.
As for the Mahagathbandhan, RJD is the largest party, with Congress, CPI(ML), CPI, and CPIM being its constituents.
It is speculated that BJP’s candidate list will predominantly feature younger faces, considering that half of its current MPs are above the age of seventy. Therefore, instead of re-nominating them, the party is exploring other options. Similarly, in JDU, the focus is on youth candidates due to the party’s existing social demographics.
Overall, the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Bihar are poised to witness a significant influx of new faces, reflecting a shift towards youth representation across party lines.
