In an alarming turn of events during the Winter Session of Parliament, 27-year-old Sagar Sharma, a resident of Ramnagar locality in Lucknow, breached Lok Sabha security. Sharma, who actively participated in political protests and drove an e-rickshaw, surprised his family with his involvement in the incident.
According to Sharma’s mother, Rani Sharma, he had mentioned attending a protest, but she was unaware of any plan to breach Parliament security. Sagar’s family resides in a modest two-room rented dwelling, and the revelation left them in shock.
Investigations into Sagar’s background reveal a multifaceted individual. Despite discontinuing studies after completing class 12 due to financial constraints, his Facebook page reflects a keen interest in revolutionary ideologies, particularly drawing inspiration from Bhagat Singh. Sagar was known to read books by Bhagat Singh and shared quotes from the iconic figure on his social media.
His room, adorned with two blankets and a bookshelf, portrayed his affinity for literature, even though formal education had been cut short. Sagar’s father, Roshan Lal Sharma, works as a carpenter, and the family has been living in Ramnagar for the past 15 years.
A close associate, who chose to remain anonymous, revealed that Sagar operated an e-rickshaw for the past few years. Despite his limited formal education, Sagar was described as “highly informed” about politics. The associate recounted meeting Sagar during a protest organized by a student wing, where Sagar’s knowledge and activism left a lasting impression.
While Sagar’s family expressed concern about his safety, emphasizing his simplicity and lack of involvement in illegal activities, the associate highlighted Sagar’s deep engagement in political movements. The shocking breach of Parliament security on the 22nd anniversary of the 2001 attack raises questions about the effectiveness of security protocols and sheds light on the complexity of Sagar Sharma’s persona.
