Patna: The Mahabodhi Corridor, designed to be similar to Varanasi’s Kashi Vishwanath Corridor, is set to begin construction in Bodh Gaya. The tender has been issued, and work will commence soon. A total of 72.90 acres has been identified for the project, including 66.96 acres from the Education Department, 3.94 acres of land consolidation surplus, 0.30 acres of Bihar government land, and 1.7 acres of general public land.

Vishnupad Temple Corridor Work to Start Soon

Work on the tourism corridor at Vishnupad Temple in Gaya Dham will start soon, with an estimated cost of approximately ₹57.74 crore. In the first phase, the project will include the construction of a pathway-cum-shed building, alternative approach roads, and a bus depot. The State Tourism Development Corporation has issued the tender, with a pre-bid meeting scheduled for August 6 and the tender opening on August 12. Once the agency is selected, construction will commence.

Planned Developments in Gaya Dham Corridor

According to the Tourism Department, the Vishnupad Temple Corridor will feature facilities for pilgrims, including the construction of the main building, a 42-meter pathway from the riverfront to the main temple, canopies, toilets, drinking water facilities, pathway development, a tourist facilitation center near the parking area, and a bus depot.

First Phase to be Completed in Two Years

Additionally, the Water Resources Department is working on constructing an alternative access road to Vishnupad Temple and a dam and integrated drainage work on the Phalgu River from Ghungaritand Bypass Bridge to Muktidham. The Road Construction Department is also working on approvals for parking, drainage, and road construction over the Mansarwa Nala. The target is to complete the first phase of the corridor within two years.
