Jaipur, In the unfolding drama of Rajasthan’s political landscape, the Tijara assembly constituency has become the focal point with the emergence of a unique candidate, Mahant Balak Nath Yogi, representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The upcoming assembly election sees him in a face-off against Congress candidate Imran Khan.
Prior to the polls, the Congress party raised allegations against Balak Nath, accusing him of purchasing 32 acres of land worth Rs 52 crore at Cultus Lake in Canada. Balak Nath vehemently dismissed these claims as baseless, attributing them to the Congress’s attempt to divert attention from issues of misgovernance and terrorism.
Balak Nath, in his campaign rhetoric, has coined the Tijara contest as an ‘India-Pakistan match,’ positioning himself against what he terms as “Talibani” forces. This assembly constituency falls under the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency, presently represented by the 39-year-old Nath as a Member of Parliament.
Beyond the conventional political arena, Balak Nath boasts a substantial following on social media platforms, particularly Instagram, with nearly 1.5 million followers.
Born into a Yadav family in the village of Kohrana, Behror tehsil, on April 16, 1984, Balak Nath’s early life was marked by a deep connection to the Nath sect of Hinduism. Initiated into sannyasa at the age of six-and-a-half, he left home to seek solace in the Baba Khetanath Ashram, guided by his father, Subhash Yadav.
Balak Nath’s spiritual journey took a significant turn when he was declared the eighth successor of Asthal Bohar in 2016, in the presence of prominent figures like UP CM Yogi Adityanath and yoga guru Baba Ramdev. Following the passing of Mahant Chandnath Yogi in 2017, Balak Nath assumed the role of the eighth abbot of Asthal Bohar, the largest monastery of the Nath sect. He currently serves as the abbot of the Baba Mastnath Math and holds the position of Chancellor at Baba Mastnath University in Rohtak, Haryana.
Balak Nath’s political journey aligns with the footsteps of his mentor, Mahant Chandnath, a former Member of Parliament from Alwar. He succeeded Chandnath as the head of the Baba Mastnath Mutt in Haryana. The support of influential figures like yoga guru Baba Ramdev has also played a pivotal role in Balak Nath’s political trajectory.
What sets Balak Nath apart in the Tijara constituency is his status as an outsider challenging a formidable local Congress candidate. His campaign team from Mahendragarh in Haryana underscores the widespread support he commands.
As the electoral battle intensifies, the spotlight remains firmly on Tijara, awaiting the verdict that will shape the political landscape of Rajasthan. Stay tuned for comprehensive coverage of the election results live on Magadh Today.
