The Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) has expedited efforts to establish Mahavil as a leather hub, initiating the booking process for the Mahavil Leather Product Park. The official social media pages of the Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority, both at the state and national levels, are being utilized for branding purposes.
The recently released 1 minute 31 seconds video showcases the ongoing infrastructure development, rates, connectivity, and overall progress in Mahavil, aimed at attracting investors from both within the country and abroad. Currently, there are 75 available plots in the Mahavil Leather Product Park, with approximately 49 acres of land ready for allocation. The department has set the rate at 62 lakh rupees per acre, and there are also 34 plug and play sheds available, each measuring 3,875 square feet, with a monthly rent of 6 rupees per square foot.
Regarding connectivity, the nearest railway station is Mahavil (0 km), the nearest airport is Darbhanga (68 km), and the nearest national highway is NH-28 (0.5 km).
To ensure adequate electricity supply for the leather park, a dedicated 11 kV feeder has been installed by the Department of Industries. Additionally, a 390-megawatt thermal power plant, located 15 km away from the site, assures potential investors of uninterrupted power supply.
Efforts are also underway to simplify the allocation process, with the release of a mega project map portal providing detailed information about each plot’s orientation and position.
Once fully operational, the leather park is expected to become a new hub for employment generation, with the production of leather purses, belts, shoes, and other products. This development is anticipated to provide job opportunities for local residents.
Furthermore, discussions about other infrastructure developments alongside the mega leather park are ongoing. Recently, at the Global Meet held in Patna, investors were briefed about the Mahavil Leather Product Park along with the Mega Food Park, aiming to attract external investment.
