Significant progress has been made on two major four-lane road projects in Bihar, specifically the Munger-Mirzachowki and Bhagalpur-Bhaljore roads. Residents have been eagerly awaiting the completion of these projects.
Munger-Mirzachowki Four-Lane Project Moves Forward
For the Munger-Mirzachowki four-lane construction, the district administration has handed over 4.5 kilometers of land from Jankinagar to Naugachia to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). This stretch had been a contentious area, with frequent clashes between the administration and local landowners.
On Thursday, the remaining 1.5 kilometers of land will also be handed over to NHAI. The construction work had been stalled for a long time due to the lack of land possession.
On Wednesday, administrative officials, along with the police, ensured the handover of 4.5 kilometers of land to NHAI.
The Issue at Hand
The Munger-Mirzachowki project faced delays because NHAI needed possession of a total of 6 kilometers of land between Jankinagar and Chandpur to Naugachia. Despite land acquisition, local landowners had been resisting, causing a significant hold-up in construction. On Thursday, the remaining 1.5 kilometers will be handed over, and legal action will be taken against any landowners obstructing the process.
Bhagalpur-Bhaljore Four-Lane Road Construction Begins
In other news, preparations for the Bhagalpur-Bhaljore four-lane road have commenced. On Wednesday, survey work started from the Kataria river bridge towards Rajoun Bazaar.
Engineers from the NH division and local land surveyors measured the land on both sides of the road. Surendra Prasad Raut, a local surveyor, stated that sufficient land is not available in Rajoun Bazaar for the road construction. Land acquisition will be necessary, as only 110 feet of land is currently available. Several houses on the eastern and western edges of the current road will need to be acquired and demolished to make way for the new four-lane road.
