Bengaluru ushered in the New Year with a spectacular celebration as over one lakh people gathered at MG Road and Brigade Road at midnight on January 1. The Central Business District witnessed a vibrant atmosphere, with large police deployments and CCTV surveillance ensuring safety throughout the city.

The massive turnout at MG Road prompted police to implement restrictions on vehicular movement in the Central Business District. Other areas like Indiranagar, Koramangala, Kalyan Nagar, and Marathahalli also experienced significant crowds well into the morning hours.

More than 9,000 police personnel were on duty, conducting drunk and drive checks in crucial pockets. The deployment of 18 watch towers across the city allowed authorities to closely monitor the celebrations. The recently introduced Safety Islands, designed for emergencies, played a vital role in assisting people in distress.

Bengaluru police reported a peaceful and incident-free celebration, with no major issues reported. Apartments and housing societies organized special events, adding to the festive spirit. Gig workers experienced a busy night with scheduled deliveries for parties across the city.

As Bengaluru bids farewell to 2023, the city looks forward to a promising 2024.
