Bhopal, Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who held the position for over 16 years, bid an emotional farewell in his home constituency, Budhni. Expressing a mix of sentiments, Chouhan addressed a gathering, stating, “Often, you wait for coronation and get exiled.”

Chouhan’s tenure came to an end as Mohan Yadav assumed the Chief Minister’s role following the Bharatiya Janata Party’s significant victory in the assembly polls, securing 163 out of 230 seats. The BJP leadership has not yet disclosed Chouhan’s political future.

“There must be some reason. Many times, you wait for coronation and get exiled,” remarked Chouhan during a meeting in Shahgunj, Budhni. He reassured the crowd, saying, “This happens for the fulfilment of a purpose. But do not be concerned. My life is for sisters, daughters, and the people. I have come into this world to rid you of sorrow and pain. I will not permit tears in your eyes. I will work day and night.”

Chouhan’s emotional response was triggered when a group of women at the rally began weeping, pleading, “Bhaiyya, humme akele chhor ke matt jao (Brother, do not leave us alone).” Chouhan emphatically declared, “I will not go anywhere. I will live and die here,” promising to continue the schemes initiated by him, including the Ladli Behna Yojana.

“And now my address is B-8, 74 Bungalows, which I have named Mama Ka Ghar,” Chouhan announced, referencing his popular nickname, Mama (maternal uncle).
