In a diplomatic discourse of escalating gravity, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has called upon the Indian government to approach the allegations with utmost seriousness and work collaboratively with Canada to ensure that justice prevails.

Trudeau emphasized the growing significance of India on the world stage and expressed a commitment to fostering cooperation not only regionally but also globally. His stance underscored the value placed on the rule of law and safeguarding Canadian citizens and principles. Trudeau’s message to the Indian government was clear: “We call upon the government of India to work with us to establish processes to uncover the truth of the matter and to allow justice and accountability to be served.”

During their conversation, Trudeau shared his concerns candidly with Prime Minister Modi, asserting the need for transparency and accountability. He emphasized that the decision to bring these allegations to the House of Commons was not taken lightly but rather was made with the utmost gravity.

Trudeau firmly stated, “As a country with a strong and independent justice system, we allow those justice processes to unfold with the utmost integrity.” He maintained that Canada stands for the rule of law and the international rules-based order, making it imperative for both nations to work together to ascertain the truth.

Trudeau also pointed out that credible reasons exist to believe that agents of the Indian government may have been involved in the killing of a Canadian citizen on Canadian soil. This, he affirmed, was of paramount importance, given Canada’s commitment to the rule of law and the global rules-based order.

Trudeau’s appeal to the Indian government for cooperation was centered on ensuring justice and transparency, echoing Canada’s strong stance on upholding international norms and principles.
