New Delhi, In a dramatic turn of events during today’s parliamentary session, Hanuman Beniwal, the sole member of the Rashtriya Loktantric Party (RLP) in the Lok Sabha, reportedly attempted to climb the Speaker’s podium. This incident occurred as opposition members voiced their concerns over the security breach that transpired in the Parliament on Wednesday.

As proceedings resumed at 2 pm, opposition members trooped into the Well of the House, demanding the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to address the security breach issue. Amidst the chaos, Beniwal, positioned near the Secretary General’s chair, allegedly tried to scale the several feet high Speaker’s podium.

The House was adjourned till 3 pm by B Mahtab, who was chairing the proceedings, after adopting a resolution suspending five Congress MPs for the remainder of the session due to disruptions. A total of 13 MPs were suspended, including TMC member Derek O’Brien from the Rajya Sabha, who was suspended for his conduct related to the breach in Parliament security.

The security breach on Wednesday involved two individuals jumping into the Lok Sabha chamber from the visitors’ gallery, shouting slogans, and releasing yellow smoke, causing panic and chaos. The breach occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament terror attack.

The incident has led to increased tensions and calls for a thorough investigation into the security lapses. The government faces mounting pressure to address the concerns raised by the opposition regarding the breach and take necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of the Parliament.
