In a reported deadlock, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) finds itself in a dispute with the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) regarding additional compensation for organizing chartered flights during the Asia Cup, co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka in August-September 2023.

According to a reliable source within the PCB, the board is not only seeking tournament hosting fees of approximately $250,000 but also a share in ticketing and sponsorship fees. Furthermore, they are pushing for additional compensation to cover expenses related to chartered flights between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, along with extra costs like hotel and transport fees that were not initially included in the Asia Cup budget.

However, the ACC is reportedly reluctant to fulfill the additional financial demands. They argue that Pakistan agreed to the hybrid model, holding matches in Sri Lanka, in exchange for hosting four games of the Asia Cup domestically.

The PCB had to manage chartered flights between Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka since the tournament shifted to a hybrid model following India’s refusal to play in Pakistan due to security concerns.

Notably, there are claims that a top PCB official utilized one of the chartered flights to transport his family to Colombo.

While the ACC contends that the expenses are not their responsibility, the PCB insists that the additional costs were approved in their meeting, emphasizing the need for shared financial responsibility.
