Lucknow, Despite nationwide strikes and chilly weather, Lucknow witnessed a surge in people stepping out on the first day of the year. Families and friends gathered at temples, parks, and tourist spots across the city.
Thousands Seek Divine Blessings
A significant number of devotees flocked to temples, gurudwaras, and churches to usher in the New Year with prayers. Hanuman temples on University Road and Hazratganj, along with Mankameshwar and Kali Bari temples, attracted the largest crowds. Various religious events and distribution of prasad marked the celebrations.
Zoo’s Record Footfall
The Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden experienced an overwhelming influx of 17,507 visitors, following a substantial turnout of 10,221 on December 31. Despite a usual Monday closure, the zoo opened its gates, with attractions like toy trains and selfie points drawing large crowds. Several children briefly lost in the crowd were successfully reunited with their parents.
Parks, a Preferred Choice
Families, couples, and friends opted for parks, including Janeshwar Mishra Park and Hanumant Dham, where crowds enjoyed the winter sun and a break from traffic interruptions. Ambedkar Park witnessed groups trickling in from other locations.
