Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set inaugurate the new state-of-the-art Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) campus at Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, near Kempegowda International Airport, Bangalore

Constructed with an investment of Rs 1,600 crore, the 43-acre campus is Boeing’s biggest such investment outside the US.

“Boeing’s newly built campus in India is set become a cornerstone for partnership with the vibrant startup, private, and government ecosystem in India and is crucial for developing next-generation products and services for the global aerospace and defense industry,” said a PIB (press information bureau) statement.

The Prime Minister will also launch the Boeing Sukanya programme, which focuses on supporting the entry of more girl children from across India into the country’s growing aviation sector.

The programme will deliver opportunities for girls and women from across India to excel in critical skills in the science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) fields and skill for jobs in the aviation sector. For young girls, the program will set-up STEM Labs at 150 planned locations to foster interest in STEM careers. The programme will also have scholarships for women who are training to be pilots.

Earlier this year, Boeing announced a $100 million investment in infrastructure and programs to train pilots in India, after Air India signed a mega deal for over 200 jets from Boeing, including 20 787 Dreamliners, 10 777Xs, and 190 737 MAX narrowbody aircraft.

With Bengaluru moving north, Devanahalli is turning out to be the hub of the aerospace industry, especially due to the proximity of Kempegowda International Airport , along with the convenience of the upcoming Blue Metro line (KR Pura – Yelahanka – KIA), which is set to be functional by 2026.

Delhi headquartered Boeing’s India operations include field service offices in Mumbai, Hindan, Rajali, and New Delhi, and a rapidly growing Boeing India Engineering & Technology Center (BIETC) in Bengaluru and Chennai.

Modi is scheduled to touch down Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru at 2:10 pm on January 19. Meanwhile, Bengaluru traffic police announced traffic diversion on Hennur – -Bagalur Road (new airport road) and other roads leading to KIA on January 19 from 8 am to 6 pm due to the PM’s visit.
