New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi, Member of Parliament from the Indian National Congress, expressed his party’s optimism regarding the forthcoming assembly elections in Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan. He also suggested that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would face an unexpected outcome in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Mr. Gandhi revealed that the Congress party had assimilated a valuable lesson from its victory in Karnataka earlier this year.

Addressing an audience in Delhi, Rahul Gandhi stated, “At present, we are poised to secure Telangana, are certainly leading in Madhya Pradesh, are in close contention in Chhattisgarh, and believe we can secure Rajasthan. This aligns with what the BJP is reportedly acknowledging internally.” The statement was captured in a video shared by his party via X.

Mr. Gandhi emphasized that the Congress’s electoral strategy in Karnataka involved preventing the BJP from defining the narrative. He alleged that recent distractions, such as derogatory remarks made by BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri against BSP MP Danish Ali in the Lok Sabha, were attempts by the BJP to divert attention from essential issues such as the Caste census.

Rahul Gandhi asserted that the Congress had learned how to manage these distractions effectively, particularly in an environment where the BJP wielded significant media influence. He cited examples of successful social welfare programs in Rajasthan as evidence that people support state governments because of such initiatives.

In a conclave organized by the Pratidin Media Network of Assam, Mr. Gandhi criticized the concept of ‘One Nation, One Election,’ characterizing it as a ploy to divert attention from pressing concerns of the populace. He categorized it as one of the BJP’s strategies of distraction.

The leader highlighted that the primary concerns in India included wealth concentration, staggering wealth inequality, widespread unemployment, injustice towards lower castes, OBCs, tribal communities, and rising prices.

Rahul Gandhi also contended that opposition parties were confronting a combination of financial and media pressure but were still performing well despite these challenges. He claimed that supporting an opposition party in India often resulted in repercussions for businesses.

He underscored that the opposition coalition, INDIA, was not merely contending with a political party but was engaged in a battle to protect the essence of India itself, offering insight into the acronym’s significance.
