Russian President Vladimir Putin underscored the remarkable state of relations between Russia and China, characterizing them as having reached an unparalleled historical zenith. This declaration came as President Putin engaged in discussions with China’s Deputy Premier Zhang Guoqing. The Russian news agency RIA reported on this high-level meeting.
President Putin emphasized, “Relations between Russia and China have reached an absolutely unprecedented historical level in recent years.” He further reaffirmed the commitment to continue advancing this collaboration.
Reports indicate that President Putin and Deputy Premier Zhang Guoqing intend to deliberate on bilateral engagements at the “highest-level” slated for later this year. Kremlin’s spokesman conveyed this information, highlighting the significance of these exchanges.
The meeting between President Putin and the Chinese vice premier took place in Vladivostok, coinciding with Russia’s hosting of a significant economic forum. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin’s spokesman, articulated that this meeting provides “another opportunity to quickly compare notes, including in the context of bilateral contacts at the highest level planned before the end of this year.”
Back in July, Kremlin foreign policy adviser Yury Ushakov disclosed President Putin’s intention to visit China in October during the third iteration of the “Belt and Road” forum. This visit materialized in response to an invitation extended by Chinese President Xi Jinping during his notable state visit to Russia in March.
