In a virtual summit of the BRICS group, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman emphasized the need for a serious and comprehensive peace process to establish a Palestinian state based on the borders decided in 1967. The prince stated unequivocally that there is no alternative for achieving security and stability in Palestine other than implementing international decisions related to the two-state solution.
Addressing the recent Israel-Hamas conflict, the Crown Prince held the ‘Israeli occupation’ accountable for crimes against Palestinians. He reiterated a call for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, expressing Saudi Arabia’s firm rejection of continued Israeli aggression and forced displacement of residents. The prince criticized the international community’s silence on violations against Palestinian civilians, urging coordinated efforts among Arab and Islamic states to lift the siege and provide humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, also part of the summit, echoed the call for a ceasefire and stressed the two-state solution as the fundamental way to achieve lasting peace in the region. He urged the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian nation, advocating for the establishment of an independent State of Palestine.
The Crown Prince concluded by reaffirming Saudi Arabia’s commitment to tireless efforts for peace and the establishment of a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
