In a remarkable display of cinematic success, Shah Rukh Khan’s latest cinematic masterpiece, “Jawan,” directed by Atlee, continues its unprecedented reign at the global box office. The film, which graced theaters on September 7th, has not only shattered records but is poised to surpass the monumental ₹500 crore milestone in India.

After a stellar weekend performance, “Jawan” added another feather to its cap by amassing ₹16 crore on Monday, as per early estimates provided by industry tracker Sacnilk. This achievement brings the 12-day cumulative collection of the film, starring not only SRK but also an ensemble cast including Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Girija Oak, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Lehar Khan, Aaliyah Qureshi, Ridhi Dogra, Sunil Grover, Deepika Padukone, and Sanjay Dutt, to an impressive ₹493.63 crore within India. Notably, the film secured a 23.92% occupancy rate in Hindi theaters on Monday.

“Jawan” stands as a testament to Shah Rukh Khan’s enduring star power and his unwavering commitment to his craft. It is worth noting that he not only outshines his previous successes but is also in direct competition with his earlier release this year, “Pathaan.” Directed by Siddharth Anand, “Pathaan” emerged as a cinematic juggernaut, raking in ₹1,055 crore worldwide, with ₹543.09 crore originating from India alone. This action-packed spectacle also featured the talents of Deepika Padukone and John Abraham in pivotal roles.

Notably, “Jawan” has not confined its success to Indian shores alone; it has made a resounding impact globally, crossing ₹860 crore in earnings. Remarkably, it has secured the title of the fastest Bollywood film to achieve this feat. Previously, “Pathaan” held the record with a global earnings figure of $130 million, solidifying Shah Rukh Khan’s position as a global cinematic icon. In the international arena, it stands as the second-highest-grossing Hindi film, trailing only behind Aamir Khan’s “Dangal,” which amassed approximately $250 million. Should “Jawan” surpass “Pathaan’s” global earnings, Shah Rukh Khan would become the lone Indian actor to have two films crossing the $100 million mark in a single year.

In a recent interview , director Atlee expressed his aspirations of taking “Jawan” to the Oscars, underscoring the collective desire within the film industry to attain recognition on the grandest stages, such as the Oscars.

As “Jawan” inches closer to yet another monumental achievement, Shah Rukh Khan is poised to become the only Indian actor with two ₹1,000-crore grossers in a single year, solidifying his indomitable reign in the world of cinema.
