Bihar Four Lane Project: Commencement is expected this year on around half a dozen NH projects spanning approximately 421 kilometers in Bihar. Notably, these include the six-lane Patna Ring Road Kanhauli-Ramnagar, Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama Four-lane, Narenpur-Purnia, Araria-Galgaliya, Piprakothi-Motihari-Raxaul, and the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Road. With the initiation of vehicle movement on these state roads, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s priorities include improving accessibility to the state’s remote areas, enabling a five-hour journey from the capital Patna to these regions. This development is expected to enhance connectivity with West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Nepal, fostering economic and cultural development in the state.

Ramnagar-Kanhauli Six-lane Road:

Sources indicate that the construction of the Ramnagar-Kanhauli Six-lane Road, part of the Patna Ring, spanning approximately 39 kilometers with an estimated cost of around 797 crores, is likely to be completed by March 31, 2024. This road’s commencement will improve convenience for residents in and around the capital Patna. The road will stretch from Bihta to Beladari Chak, connecting Bihta-Sarmeer Road to a new road leading to Kachchi Dargah. A bridge over the Ganga River is planned from Bidupur to Sherpur, further linking Sherpur to Bihta.

Connectivity to Patna Ring Road:

The Bihta-Sarmeer (NH-78) and the proposed Aurangabad-Darbhanga Bharatmala Corridor will integrate with the Patna Ring Road in Ramnagar. Additionally, a new bridge over the Ganga is planned between Sherpur in Danapur and Dighwara. North of the Ganga, Ring Road will provide four-lane connectivity to Vaishali. NH-103 will offer an easier route from Bakhtiyarpur-Tajpur Road through Chaksikandar, and Tajpur-Hajipur Road will enhance connectivity to Vaishali.

Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama Four-lane:

NH-31, the Bakhtiyarpur-Mokama Four-lane project, covering approximately 44.60 kilometers at a cost of around 878.94 crores, is expected to be completed by June 30, 2024. This road will enhance connectivity between Patna and South Bihar to North Bihar.

Araria-Galgaliya Four-lane:

The Araria-Galgaliya Four-lane NH project, spanning about 94 kilometers, is anticipated to be completed this year by combining two packages. The first package, costing around 800.23 crores, covers the Galgaliya to Bahadurganj section. The second package, with an expenditure of approximately 799.14 crores, extends from Bahadurganj to Araria.

Narenpur-Purnia Four-lane:

The Narenpur-Purnia Four-lane NH project, covering around 49 kilometers at a cost of 1905 crores, is in its final phase of construction. This road will improve accessibility to the Seemanchal region and beyond, totaling about 1324.63 crores for approximately 47.04 kilometers, including a 2.03-kilometer-long bypass road in Katihar.

Piprakothi-Motihari-Raxaul NH:

The construction of the Piprakothi-Motihari-Raxaul Four-lane NH-28 and 527D, spanning 68.6 kilometers at a cost of 400 crores, initiated in 2019, is currently in its final phase. This road will enhance connectivity to Nepal from North Bihar.

Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Four-lane:

The three packages of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Four-lane NH project, covering approximately 127 kilometers at a cost of around 1609 crores, are expected to be completed by June 2024. This road will improve connectivity from Patna to Jharkhand. The Patna-Gaya-Dobhi Road is vital in connecting the Patna-Ara-Buxar NH. This road will link Natthupur in Patna to Masaurhi in the first package, Jehanabad city to Bihar Sharif in the second package, and Gaya Bypass Road to Dobhi in the third package, easing traffic congestion for those traveling from Patna to Gaya-Bodh Gaya and Dobhi. The road will connect to the NH-30 and will connect to the Kolkata-Delhi Golden Quadri
