Delhi:Passengers on a SpiceJet flight from Delhi to Darbhanga endured an hour of extreme heat due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system. The flight, which was ready for departure at Delhi Airport, left passengers sweating profusely in the scorching heat without any air conditioning or fans. It wasn’t until the plane took off that the AC was finally turned on, bringing much-needed relief.
Passengers’ Ordeal
Upon disembarking, passengers shared their ordeal, criticizing the airline for poor service. They reported being confined in the sweltering plane with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius. Passengers, including the elderly, children, and those who were ill, struggled to cope, using handkerchiefs and paper to fan themselves.
Passenger Reactions
One passenger, Rohan Kumar, expressed his frustration, noting the lack of air conditioning caused breathing difficulties and a sensation of reduced oxygen. The discomfort led many to vow never to fly with SpiceJet again, and complaints about the airline’s service were rampant during the flight and on social media.
Administrative Actions
SpiceJet has faced backlash for its handling of the situation. Passengers demanded better oversight from the Civil Aviation Ministry, blaming poor regulatory supervision for their ordeal.
