In the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024, the second semi-final clash took place between Pakistan and Australia. In a low-scoring encounter, Australia secured a place in the final by defeating Pakistan by one wicket. The final showdown will see Australia facing defending champions India. India, a strong contender for the trophy, remains undefeated in the tournament so far. Captain Uday Saharan expressed full confidence in his team, stating they are ready to take on any opponent in the final. This marks India’s fifth appearance in the global tournament’s final.

Australia Triumphs Over Pakistan by One Wicket

In the second semi-final, Australia won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first. The Australian bowlers delivered an outstanding performance, restricting Pakistan to a total of 179 all-out. Despite commendable efforts from Pakistan’s bowlers, they couldn’t prevent Australia from achieving the target of 180 on the last wicket, securing victory by a narrow margin.

Pakistan’s Eight Batsmen Fail to Cross Double Digits

Ezaan Awaiz and Arafat Minhas contributed half-centuries for Pakistan, but they couldn’t lead their team to a respectable score. None of Pakistan’s eight batsmen managed to reach double digits. In this tournament, Pakistan posted its lowest score while batting first. Although Australia’s batting performance was not exceptional, they clinched the victory in a closely contested match.

Australia’s Tom Streaker Claims Six Wickets

Australia’s bowler Tom Streaker showcased his brilliance, taking six wickets in the match. He dismissed Pakistan’s opening batsman Samail Hussain for 17 and later sent back two more key batsmen, Azaan Awaiz and Captain Saeed Baig. Streaker bowled 10 overs, conceding only 24 runs with an impressive economy rate.

Pressure Mounts on Pakistan from Australia

Despite a competitive effort from Australian batsmen, Pakistan faced pressure throughout the match. Opening batsman Harry Dixon scored a half-century, and Oliver Peek contributed with a 49-run innings. However, no other batsman managed to reach the 30-run mark. Ali Raja shone for Pakistan, taking four wickets, but Australia secured the win in the final over.

The stage is now set for an intense final clash between Australia and India in the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024.
