In a thrilling World Cup 2023 final, Australia emerged victorious against a formidable Indian side at the Narendra Modi Stadium in front of 95,000 spectators. Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam and newly-appointed T20I skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi congratulated Australia on their sixth World Cup title.

Australia, led by Pat Cummins, displayed a commanding performance in the final, restricting India to 240 with strategic bowling. Despite a brisk start from Rohit Sharma, Australia maintained control, ultimately achieving the target with six wickets and 7 overs to spare.

Babar Azam, expressing his admiration for Australia’s performance, stated, “Congratulations Australia. What a commanding performance in the final.” Meanwhile, Shaheen Afridi praised India for their exceptional performance throughout the tournament, acknowledging them as the most dominating and consistent team with 10 consecutive wins.

Australia’s Travis Head played a crucial role in the victory, scoring a remarkable 137 runs with four sixes and 15 fours. Head’s partnership with Marnus Labuschagne, who remained unbeaten with 58 runs, ended India’s dominant run of 10 unbeaten matches.

While commending Australia, Afridi tweeted, “Many congrats to Australia on winning the World Cup title. Surely the better team on the day. Hard luck India, but the team played fantastically well throughout the tournament.”

Australia’s victory marked their fourth World Cup win in this century, showcasing their dominance in cricket. The thrilling final left fans on the edge of their seats, culminating in a memorable moment for the cricketing world.
