In the aftermath of a 106-run defeat in the second Test at Visakhapatnam, the England cricket team has chosen a strategic departure to Abu Dhabi. The decision follows a four-day contest that ended with a series-leveling performance by the hosts. Ben Stokes, leading the side, decided to utilize the nine-day break before the third Test in Rajkot by engaging the team in recreational activities, including golf, in Abu Dhabi.

The team’s management, headed by Captain Stokes and Coach Brendon McCullum, views this break as an opportunity for players to rejuvenate before returning to India for the crucial third Test on February 15. The strategic move aims to emulate the 2012 success when Alastair Cook’s team secured victory in a Test series against India.

In a departure from the traditional practice, England opted for an extensive conditioning camp in Abu Dhabi instead of arriving early in the subcontinent for practice matches. Despite winning the series opener, the English batters faced challenges against Indian spinners and Jasprit Bumrah’s reverse swing during the second Test.

Reflecting on the defeat, Stokes remarked, “We’re a very level-headed team, and that allows us to put things behind us, move on to the next thing, and concentrate there.” Despite falling short of the desired result, the team remains optimistic about their achievements.
