Legendary Pakistan cricketer Wasim Akram shares a special message for the newly appointed office bearers at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) following a disappointing ICC World Cup campaign. Despite being champions in 1992, Babar Azam’s Pakistan finished fifth in the ICC World Cup 2023 standings, leading to Babar stepping down from the captaincy.

The PCB underwent significant changes, naming Shan Masood as the new captain for Pakistan’s first away series post-World Cup. Mohammad Hafeez took on the role of head coach and team director, with Wahab Riaz leading the selection committee. Akram, in a message on social media, urges patience, advising fans to give the new leadership at least 12 months to prove themselves. He cheekily adds, “Don’t hold press conferences every three minutes. Stick to your decisions and be brave.”

Hafeez and Masood were part of the selection committee that initially included Salman Butt but later reversed the decision. The PCB stated, “After a thorough review, it has been decided he will not be appointed as a consultant member.”

In a positive note, the Pakistani team has arrived in Australia for the upcoming Test series, and Akram wishes them success.
